We are still awaiting confirmation from RNAS Yeovilton as to whether we can have access to the changing rooms and toilets, or even just the car park, for use as the HQ. So keep an eye on the website for an update. If we are not allowed we will use the start lay-by for signing on. But come prepared to no changing or toilet facilities.
The format will be much as normal but the following will apply to minimise any chance of transmission:
An official will take your details for the signing on sheet.
You will not sign the sheet, but accepting your race number will signify you accept the Terms and Conditions you would normally agree to when you sign.
There will be one tub for entry fee money. You will drop your money into it and none will be taken from it. There will be a supply of change that has not been touched for at least a week. But bringing the correct money would be a great help. The costs are as follows: Yeovil CC juniors £2.00, Other juniors £3.50, Yeovil CC seniors £4.00. Affiliated seniors £5.00 · Non affiliated seniors £6.00
You will take your race number, which must be returned to the HQ, it will then be quarantined for the week and cleaned before the following event.
There will be no pusher off
The start time keeper may use hand signals rather than a spoken count down for the final 5 seconds
Please observe social distancing rules at all times. Ideally we would like riders to turn up, sign on, warm up, ride and then depart, rather than gathering in groups before and after the event. Not so social I know but...
Results will not be available on the night, they will be posted online.
The 10 mile events are on the new 10 course (see below). This will help us assess the popularity and safety of the course, so that we can decide whether or not to have any 10s on the A303 next year.
The new course is basically the 9 mile course but with a new start on the edge of Marston Magna. From Marston you head to Queen Camel where you take the first exit on the roundabout. You must be prepared to stop if a vehicle is coming from Queen Camel and heading across you to go down the West Camel road too. From observation there are very few, in fact there were none when the traffic count was done, doing that manoeuvre. From that point on the course is the same as the 9. The finish is a little sooner than the 9 course, at the 30mph sign.
We need one marshal for each of the 5 mile events and two for the 10s. If you are able to help with any of the dates then please reply to this email. If we don’t get some volunteers we will not be able to hold the events. Again depending on the news from RNAS Yeovilton we may have to use the Medical Centre in Queen Camel as the HQ for the 10s.
This is another small step back to normality.
