It is just over a week now until our Annual General Meeting, which will take in the Parish Room, in the Forum Complex at Abbey Manor (BA21 3TL) on Monday 9th September. Doors open at 7pm and the meeting will start at 7:15. The room is up the long slope behind the pub.
There will be a change in the format this year to enable us to devote most of the meeting to the results of the recent survey. And how we can best provide the activities you have expressed an interest in.
We will discuss whether we continue to provide competitive events, time trials and road races, and how we can extend the club runs programme, without putting an additional burden on the current committee members.
One of the solutions we are considering is to have a nominated list of events for 2020, sportives, audax, charity rides etc. Members could then enter as a ‘team’, sharing transport and if suitable riding the event together. We would like to hear from you if you have enjoyed a particular event or activity this year that we might include in the list.
Other items under consideration are evening training rides, beginner sessions for new club riders, two day rides with an overnight stop, and drive and ride club runs.
Cycle safety campaigning was also on the survey and there was a strong interest in the topic. We are affiliated to two organisations that specifically campaign for road safety on a national level. If there are club members that would like to explore more local activities we would welcome your thoughts too.
An agenda will be sent out next week which will contain the reports of each committee member, which will give you a chance to consider any questions you might want to raise (and cut out the boring bit!)
I do hope you will take the time to come and let us know how we can shape the club to provide you with the sort of cycling experience you enjoy and would be happy to recommend to other riders.
If we get through the meeting in a timely fashion we may even nip over to the pub afterwards.
If you have a Motion you wish to add to the Agenda please send it to Sandra Wills, by the 2nd September.
