The second heatwave of the year contributed to a diminished field this week. August Highlights The eagle eyed amongst you may have spotted an event on our Facebook page for the 7th August, well we are now able to give you the details as well as information on Sandra’s 100 mile ride. By then England will have been knocked out of the World Cup and Tadej Pogačar will have won his 5th Tour de France crown. So come along and commiserate or celebrate with your fellow club members. Summer SocialWe have opted to move our usual get together to the summer and a central Yeovil venue in the hope that it will make it more accessible and affordable for everyone. The event is open to everyone, partners, friends and ex members. Come along and get to meet your fellow riders. For the regular Sunday crew discover what the Thursday rides or the Time Trials are all about. We will also be celebrating the trophy winners from 2025 including the new cyclo-cross and gravel awards. We are keeping the Buffet format. A selection of the following will be served from 7:30: Ham/Cheese/Egg sandwiches • Sausage Rolls • Cheese & Pineapple • Pizza (Vegetarian) • Quiche • Coleslaw • Potato Salad • Tossed Salad There is a fully licensed bar Tickets are just £12 per head (the Club is subsidizing the event) which you can pay for online or on the night. There will be the usual options to cut back at various points on the ride if you don’t want to do the full distance.Marilyn Cottle and her team will be providing the refreshments at the Coxley and Westonzoyland stops. Lunch can be at Sweets, Doublegate Farm or Avalon Marshes. Groups of similar ability riders will be setting off from the usual meeting point off Picket Lane from 8:00am onwards, more details nearer the time. There is no entry fee but there will be a collection for a local charity at the coffee stops. And finally… Mark Boxall is standing down as Membership Secretary at the AGM in September, and we need a replacement. Knowing that everyone cannot get to the AGM we are asking now in the hope that someone will step up in time. The role requires updating the membership spreadsheet and issuing membership cards. The majority of the work is around January when everyone’s membership renews. If you think you can help, or want some more information please get in contact with any of the committee members.
